Someone else’s Valentine

A kitchen with white cabinets is in chaos, dishes shattered on the floor, and food splattered everywhere. Sunlight filters through a window.

"Someone else’s Valentine"

I don’t know when it was she realized she was alone

Thinking it over now , this is how I remember

…in a kitchen , looking over the mess left there then

took a sip of a coffee from the night before , it was cold

time goes by unnoticed

looking in the mirror after a cool bath , a hot shower

she noticed she is growing old

tears held back while painting on her face

a phone rang in the bedroom caused a leap inside

Like fear , but only for s second

an old mans gravel voice saying hello

was the tv , a soap opera left on for company

during her not so busy day , more time goes by unnoticed

She plays along pretending to be happy when he comes home

Certainly they will go out tonight , together alone

The children raised , grown and gone with lives of their own

a silence the empty house wont let her forget

And since they’ve gone , no regrets

I wonder if she ever thinks of me , if she wonders the way I do

Love conquers all , this cant be true

If you can hear me , shadow me echo
